Tamara (Tammi) McGill-Carter’s expertise is in Neuro-anatomy and Neuroscience with a focus on the intricate workings of the Limbic and Memory systems. Professor WK Tang was appointed to professor in the Department of Psychiatry, the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2011. His main research areas are Addictions and Neuropsychiatry in Stroke. I graduated from Cornell Law School, worked for 28 years as an attorney, and was on the faculty of the University of Louisville for 10 years. Following my diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease in 2002 at 41 years old, I focused my efforts on finding out what I could do to slow the progression of the disease then pass that information, passion, discipline and positivity to as many people as possible. Now, I am healthier than I have ever been (even with Parkinson’s disease). I have presented at over 100 Symposiums across the United States and internationally.

She works in academia as an internationally recognized neuropharmacology and Neuroimmunology researcher. She has published more than 500 scientific reports in the field of neuropsychopharmacology and signal transduction. She is leading a laboratory interested in understanding the fundamental neurobiological mechanisms of neuropsychiatric disorders to contribute at development of new pharmacological treatments .They uses genetic, neuroendocrine and neurochemical methods. The research team recognizes the role of the immune system in modulating neuropsychiatric diseases and we are developing in vitro cellular models and in vivo animal models to study the neuro-immune interactions under normal and disease states. She has successfully combined research, teaching, administration and clinical care and continue to work on advancing our understanding of serious mental illness and drug development. The research team used to translate research findings into medical practice for the purposes of diagnosing, preventing and treating diseases. She has published scientific reports on peptides, their receptors, signal transduction and the role of these neuropeptides in the immune systems. She hold patents for using modified peptides in the treatment of septic shock. She has skills and expertise in receptor pharmacology, immunohistochemistry, in vivo and in vitro cell culture, biochemistry, animal models, cell and molecular biology. She had lectured worldwide on these subjects and the others. She has 19 years of research experience with development and use of in vitro models to test compounds, such as receptor binding, receptor activation, signal transduction, receptor-receptor interactions, and induction of changes in cell cycle, proliferation and apoptosis. Furthermore She validated appropriate assays and models of diseases, screen compounds, and study mechanisms of action.

Dr Tommasin completed her PhD studies at the Physics department of Sapienza University of Rome in 2010 and since then has worked as postodoctoral fellow in Italy and Israel focusing on topic of neuroscientific and astronomical interest. Her main abilities include analysis of data, signals and images, and estimation of semi-analytical models. At the moment she works with the neuroradiology group of Sapienza University and investigates the role of neuroplasticity in disability progression of neurodegenerative disorders, such as multiple sclerosis .
